What does a tractor air filter do?
Air filters are designed to prevent debris from entering the engine’s cylinders, where it would cause mechanical wear to your tractor and oil contamination. Without an air filter in place, the engine may also be sucking dirt and debris in at the same time.
How is an air cleaner element cleaned?

Are oil bath air cleaners any good?
An oil bath air cleaner does a far better job of filtering air than any paper air cleaner element especially when it comes to fine dust.
What is the purpose of an oil bath air cleaner?
The oil bath air filter pulls in outside air and makes it turn 90 degrees over a pool of oil. This helps to remove the large, heavy particles. The air then travels over a filter element that rests in the oil and wicks it into the fibers (often made of steel mesh).
How effective is an oil bath air filter?
Oil bath filters remove more than 99% of the dust in the air and they do not become restricted as they get dirty. In fact they get more efficient when the filter material is coated with oil and dust, like a K&N filter which works on a similar principle.
When should I replace my tractor air filter?
Look at some signs that indicate it’s time to change your tractor’s air filter. If your tractor is hesitating when you go to start it or operating in a sluggish way, it could mean that your air filter is clogged. When an air filter is clogged, it allows dust particles to make their way to the engine.
Can I clean my home air filter instead of replacing it?
Handling a Filter Can Damage Its Integrity If you tear a hole in the fibers or loosen the fiber density, your air filters cannot work as well as before. Instead of cleaning a disposable air filter, throw it away and replace it with a new one.
When should I replace my air cleaner element?
Check your owner’s manual; it should tell you when your air filter should be replaced. This is generally every 12,000 to 15,000 miles, depending on your vehicle. If you have driven more than that since the last time you replaced the air filter, it’s probably time to get it changed.
What will happen if the air cleaner element is not been cleaned?
Dirt and debris, harmful to an engine, are trapped in the air cleaner element. If the air cleaner element is not replaced, engine power, acceleration and fuel economy are reduced. Using a non-genuine element may cause irreparable damage inside the engine.
