What is the best oil to use in a Kohler Engine?
Kohler recommends 10W-30 oil for its engines, including Command, Command Pro, CS, Courage, Aegis and Triad OHC engines, when the piece of equipment is in an environment where the temperature is above 32 degrees F. For K-Series and Magnum engines, use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32 degrees F.
What kind of oil goes in a Kohler Engine?
*Although 10W-40 engine oil is the recommended oil for most conditions, the oil viscosity may need to be changed to accommodate seasonal temperature changes. Using 20W-50 oil in higher ambient temperatures may reduce oil consumption.

Can I use 10W30 instead of SAE 30 in my lawn mower?
Yes, you can make use 10W30 engine oil instead of the SAE30 in your Lawn Mower. Older engines can use the SAE30, while the 10W30 is for modern engines. Again, the SAE30 is better for warmer temperatures while the 10W30 is suitable for varying temperature ranges and also works well in cold weather.
Is SAE 30 the same as 10W30?
SAE 10W30 is an oil that has SAE 10W viscosity(thickness) at low temperatures, and SAE 30 viscosity at high temperatures. The W stands for ‘Winter’. At operating temperature, there’ll likely be little difference between SAE 30 and SAE 10W30. In theory, they’re the same at high temperature, which is IIRC set at 100C.
Is it OK to use car oil in a lawn mower?
To make a long story short, yes, you can use car oil to fuel your mower, but it needs to be of high quality. For example, SAE 30 is one of the most commonly used types of high-quality motor oil on the market, and yes, it can be employed for both cars as well as lawn mowers.
Is Kohler engine oil good?
Well, the Kohler oil is kinda expensive, BUT it is a good oil. It is a HDEO (Heavy duty engine oil ) dual rated for diesel and gas engines, similar to Delo or Rotella.
What oil does a Kohler 23 hp engine take?
A quality dino 10w-30 oil will do fine. with new filter, will prolly take 2-3 qts.
Can you use synthetic oil in small engines?
Yes! We have modified our engine oil recommendations to state that you may now use a synthetic 5W30 (100074WEB) or 10W30 oil in all temperature ranges. Keep in mind that the use of synthetic oil does not prevent you from performing your regularly scheduled lawn mower maintenance (i.e. check oil, change oil, etc.).

How long will a Kohler engine last?
Registered. Briggs and kohler will exceed 10k hours with proper maintence and not one will need a major rebuild but these are the older cast iron motors.
Can I use 5w30 motor oil in a lawn mower?
SAE 30 motor oil is commonly recommended for use in a lawn mower engine, but the safest best is to use the type of oil your lawn mower manufacturer recommends. When its hot, 5w30 will get too thin to properly lubricate your lawn mower.
Is SAE 30 the same as 4 stroke oil?
The standard oil used for 4 – stroke engines found on petrol lawnmowers is grade SAE 30. Synthetic variations include SAE 5W- 30 and SAE 10W- 30.
What oil is comparable to SAE30?
Obviously, SAE and ISO use two different scales to measure viscosity. SAE 10W is equivalent to ISO 32, SAE 20 is equivalent to ISO 46 and 68, and SAE 30 is equivalent to ISO 100.
