How do you take the rear wheel off a MTD riding lawn mower?
Strike the head of the axle bolt with a hammer three times to knock away some of the rust adhering the axle to the rim. Remove the center bolt completely with the socket wrench. Grab the tire on two sides and pull it straight off the axle.
How do you take the wheels off a Craftsman lawn mower?
Pull the axle cover off a wheel with adjustable pliers. Slide the washer and retaining ring off the axle. Grasp the square key behind the wheel on the axle with needle-nose pliers and pull it straight up to remove it.
How are lawn mower wheels attached?
The metal gear is attached to the wheel via three metal rivets that press into posts on the hub, Figure 2. After about 7 years in service, the lawn mower wheel failed at the posts, causing the metal drive gear to separate from the plastic hub, Figure 3.
How do you remove a rusty pulley?
Spray a liberal amount of penetrating oil onto the front and back sides of the pulley hub until they are thoroughly soaked. Spray the pulley retaining bolt and pulley shaft with the oil. Allow about 30 minutes to two hours for the penetrating oil to loosen the rusted pulley and other parts.
