How is a diesel engine timed?
Diesel fuel injects, right before the piston reaches the top. The air-fuel mixture reaches its maximum pressure when the piston reaches TDC. The expanded gases force the piston back down to BDC during the power stroke, moving the crankshaft each time. The gases then exit through the exhaust valves to the exhaust pipe.
How do you time a dt466 injection pump?
It’s fairly easy, you line the crank up to the timing you want. Then pull a cover on front of the injection pump. When the cover is off loosen the 3 bolts and line the marks up in the peep hole by turning the gear. You don’t actually move the pump at all.
